This small light, in effect simply a free-standing lantern, is situated on a rocky headland where the Sturusund (a major side channel) branches off to the south from the main shipping channel leading into Stockholm. As with most of these navigation beacons the date of construction is unkown but there has been a light station on this site since 1902. In the photograph above, the structure immediately in front of and beneath the light is the bowsprit of Sea Cloud II, the remainder of which can be seen in the image below - now, admit it, you don't often see a ship with it's very own fitted lighthouse!
Sea Cloud II is inward bound for Stockholm in the main shipping channel - the Sturusund passes immediately in front of the brightly coloured houses in the middle distance.
